Parliamentary committees of inquiry
Parallel to criminal proceedings against members of the state executive, parliamentary committees of inquiry are often established by the respective parliaments. The legal basis for these proceedings varies considerably at the federal and state levels. We are familiar with the legal peculiarities that distinguish proceedings before a committee of inquiry from criminal investigations. In practice, these particularities arise primarily in the question of whether and when there is a duty to clarify the facts of the case. We can provide advice based on our experience and the necessary political understanding. We have acted as witness counsel in both parliamentary committees of inquiry and in state parliaments.
